The image below is of the galaxy cluster Abell 2199.
Below the image is a list of all the galaxies identified within the image.
The image was captured on 14th Jun 2007 with SLOOH Dome 1 HM. The image
was saved at about 50% (on the SLOOH exposure meter) and stretched considerably to provide luminosity. The
same image saved at 100% was used to provide a bit of colour. The galaxies
were identified using Aladin with the LEDA Hypercat and NED catalogues.
Their recession velocities (RV) show
that most of them are in the same cluster. Galaxy 60 (just right of centre near
the bottom) must be a VERY long way away if this RV is correct! The
two fuzzies marked A< are camera artefacts and not
real objects.
